Dogwood and Glen Pine Pavilions opening update

The City is currently in Phase 2 of its reopening plan for recreation facilities.
This means that programs will be offered outdoors only and will follow the provincial guidelines recommended by the Provincial Health Officer.
Beginning July 2, the following programs will be offered outdoors:

  • fitness classes in local parks
  • outdoor pools for lane and recreational swimming
  • day camps for children

Pavilion staff are working with the outdoor sports activity groups from both Dogwood and Glen Pine who are preparing to start up. Plans are in place and the Parks team is working on allocation of the outdoor amenities. Play should begin for the outdoor activity groups in the next couple of weeks.

Phase 3 includes the reopening of recreation facilities including Dogwood and Glen Pine. There is no firm date yet for Phase 3, however staff are currently planning for that eventuality so that we are ready to go when that happens. Pavilion staff are connecting with activity group leaders to work on plans for the return of activity groups and clubs who have expressed interest. There is much work to be done to determine the best way to ensure that the provincial guidelines are maintained and that the health of all participants is top of mind.

City staff will continue to update the Advisory Boards and Dogwood and Glen Pine members through the Society website and the staff newsletter.

Thank you.

Dogwood Pavilion update:

Due to covid 19, the AGM has been postponed until at least Sept, at which time the board will decide a course of action.

At this time we are still compliant with the BC Societies Act, and fully expect to meet our AGM obligations as amended by the Provincial Government.

The Advisory Board has had our first meeting to plan, in conjunction with the Provincial and City guidelines, a safe opening of the Dogwood Pavilion which will include plans for the number of activity groups and participants that will be able to meet within Dogwood Pavilion at any one time.

More updates:

1. The Executive Board has made a $5000 donation on behalf of Dogwood Seniors Society to ‘Share and the Coquitlam Food Bank’ with recommendation that funds go to benefit seniors in the Tri cities.

2. The 50+ Coquitlam slow pitch club will resume play at Town Center in July. Anyone interested in playing on a team can contact:
Barry Lang email:

3. Anyone with a suggestion or question about an activity should call their activity leader.
