To our Dogwood Pavilion Seniors’ Society Members:
A number of members have been expressing concern about the Food Service Areas in the Pavilion not requiring a Vaccine Passport and ID check to confirm all patrons are vaccinated when they are seated and removing their masks to eat or drink at the tables.
This has been raised within Activity Groups and to our Hostesses in the front lobby. At the January 12th meeting, the Board passed a motion authorizing a letter to be sent to various levels of municipal governance and provincial health officials requesting an accommodation for a Vaccine passport/ID check to provide an additional level of protection for the vulnerable seniors who make up the vast majority of our users within the Pavilion.
The Letter was sent to the Coquitlam Recreation Department, the Mayor and Council of the City of Coquitlam, Dr. Bonny Henry, Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Elizabeth Brodkin, Fraser Health Chief Medical Officer and Isobel Mackenzie, Seniors Advocate.
We have received a response from the City of Coquitlam.
We are posting both our letter and the response from the City in their entirety.
